Nature is one which is always in control and it takes seconds to become in charge, it is has been evolving over millions of years. It can give us as much inspiration as much it motivates those poets to right about her.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

An extract from the famous poem “I wandered lonely as a cloud” – William Wordsworth

“Biomimicry” by Janine Benyus

Look at how admirable is the beauty presented by the poet similarly if the world would have to be inspired the nature is adept for any complications we ever faced. One of the biggest misconceptions is mankind can control the nature. Albeit if we are able to understand how things work in nature which we have long disregarded and been ungrateful for the gems it has thrown our way, giving us the crown for being the most inefficacious children of the mother nature. While my foray into nature-based innovation made me come upon this very informative book “Biomimicry” by Janine Benyus which actually made it factual that working with nature can make the business and environment can strive together. The thoughts in the book presented with such certainty and backed by evidence made it more realistic as a view.

“Biomimicry is a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges — and find hope along the way.”

Definition inscribed on this website page will actually make it simpler to grasp and give it a thought. In the quest to move in this direction many questions arise and the path to the answers is enlighten by Janine in the book. In reference to the first question which will arise is why biomimicry?  Aren’t we innovative enough? Why know? Its been ages we have parted ways with how nature evolved over the course of existence of earth. It is the need of the hour because nature has working solutions to many issues that we have over time. Simulation of how drastic the things can change is actually seen with the fact that this pandemic has brought on mankind, how soon the earth has already started to heal with us. Quoting this here will actually make sense that “We need nature to work in our favor to survive, nature doesn’t need mankind for its existence”. Just observing how nature is working its course will give a wider view to how we need to work.

Agriculture is also crucial to economic growth as per the world bank organization it is one third of the worlds GDP back in 2014 and is increasing by 2 to 5 percent every year this has cost a strain on the natural resources this hard that farms have become industrial units producing mass food depleting our natural resources of mother nature. The solution can be seen in the prairies naturally created by nature which can feed us well and simultaneously having no strain on the environment.

Energy needs globally are 9717 Mtoe in 2017 which can be seen how we were producing it 2018 in the graphical representation beside. We are already learning with 7% of the energy being produced renewably which is increasing slowly, guess what? It is also based on a design of a plant leaf it has set of cells which convert sun to electricity.

Next are the big industries what so ever we do and whatever we have produced so far isn’t as efficiently done by nature, for example we couldn’t make material as flexible and durable as a spider’s web nor could be produce materials like reefs and shells. Natures pharmacy is the biggest medication and cure producing agency if we look closely. Statically analysis shows animals have evolved natural senses to cure their illness through natural chemicals produced in plants and naturally available resources. Similar solutions are given in the fields of commerce and information technology. Like the example in the book we will have to produce less waste and close loops in business, like wastage of one factory can be a raw material for other.

The last question which can individually will be answered is where will we go from here?

I would like to hear from you in the comments where will we go from here and if you care for the world and like the information given share.
